Daily Schedule
Our day is carefully planned to give children a stable yet flexible routine.  Our schedule helps children to manage
transitions, make choices and have fun!

Free Play:   So much learning happens during play!
During dramatic play children learn to work cooperatively
to assign roles and resolve inevitable conflict as they
model adult behavior.  They develop and sharpen
language and social skills naturally throughout this
process.  Children are given ample time each day with a
variety of carefully selected toys and supplies that
inspire creative social play.  Learning experiences
include play centers with blocks, puzzles, a sensory box,
etc., as well as a dramatic play area and themed play
kids that are rotated for variety. Visit our Play Room.

Story Time:  I truly believe that children who love to
read become lifelong readers.  My goal is not to teach
children in my care to read, but to love to read. We
read picture books at story time and often read other
forms of literature such as poetry or nursery rhymes
during snack time.  Children are encouraged to pick up
a book throughout the day to read themselves, read to
or with another child, or have read to them.

Circle Time:  Children gather to dance and sing and
have fun!  This time promotes a sense of belonging to a
group, the ability to follow directions, and large motor
tasks.  Circle time also includes calendar concepts (day
of the week, weather, seasons, etc.), the letter and
number of the day, and math concepts such as
counting and patterning.  This daily practice
supplements essential yet informal (and natural!)
practice the children get through normal daily activities
(reading, counting the number of pushes on a swing,
    creating patterns with blocks, etc).

Art Time:  Creativity through the visual arts is a fun
way for children to express themselves and practice fine
motor skills.  Although children do occasional craft
projects, art time is spent mostly on process art, like
free drawing, introduction of a new art material (painting
with household materials like shaving cream or yogurt)
or a new way to use a familiar one (applying paint with
    bubble wrap or sponges).
